PRAE
Environmental School Projects (PRAE)
Starting from the persistent issue identified within the institution regarding the generation, source separation, storage, treatment, and final disposal of solid waste, as well as food waste, it is necessary to raise awareness within the educational community and promote leadership that can guide and work toward environmental sustainability. This will help strengthen environmental values such as respect for natural resources and lead to strategies that contribute, from our context, to addressing global needs.
Therefore, through various means and pedagogical approaches, solutions can be offered to help positively change the behavior of the educational community by fostering environmental awareness and implementing actions aimed at improving our relationship with the environment.
“Trash to Treasure” is an initiative proposed by the Natural Sciences department that seeks to positively impact the entire Sajonian educational community from a formative perspective. It is aimed at establishing solid waste management habits, in alignment with the institution’s pedagogical approach. A series of activities will be developed to achieve this main objective.
In addition, this project aims to contribute to understanding environmental education as a discipline, generating responsibility and awareness in the separation of different types of solid waste and reducing food waste. This is not only an issue to be addressed within the Natural Sciences but across multiple subject areas, integrating strongly to align with the institution’s educational approach.
It is important to highlight that, at the national level, Environmental School Projects (PRAE) are implemented under Decree 1743/94. Within the National Environmental Education Policy, these projects aim to analyze and understand local, regional, and national environmental issues, fostering spaces for participation in the sustainable management of the environment.
